A friend approached me a couple of weeks ago, asking for help looking for work. Her story was the same as most people these days – needs to find a new job, and not having much faith in the likelihood of landing a “dream job” in today’s economy.
I suggested we try something a little bit different – a video PowerPoint-style presentation of her introducing herself and explaining why she is a strong solution to problems that her target companies are facing.
The video is hosted on a website (hireJane.com – Jane not being her real name), and the plan is to email her friends and colleagues the link, as well as to prospective employers. Paper CV submissions will have a sticky note on them directing the reader to the site.
What do you think of the approach? Do you like it? Hate it? Think it will work?

This is a great idea – it makes you stand out from the crowd. I work in the staffing industry – during these times you’re flooded with resumes and people tend to get lumped into a pile. Everyone starts to look “the same” after awhile.
This makes you stand out – it’s seems easy for the interviewer to click/view. It would perk my interest if someone sent this to me for an open position.
Great Idea!
